Born in Milan in 1957, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mediobanca from 2010 to 2018. Renato Pagliaro joined Mediobanca in 1981, shortly after obtaining his degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan. At Mediobanca, he held various roles of increasing responsibility, including that of Deputy General Manager starting in April 2002, Co-General Manager and Secretary of the Board of Directors from April 2003, and General Manager from October 2008 to May 2010. Renato Pagliaro was Vice Chairman of RCS MediaGroup and a member of the Board of Directors of Pirelli & C. and Telecom Italia. A sports enthusiast, particularly of tennis.
Mediobanca is an Italian credit institution founded in 1946 by Raffaele Mattioli (then President of the Banca Commerciale Italiana, which promoted it together with Credito Italiano) and Enrico Cuccia (who was the General Director from its foundation until 1982).
In 2008, with the launch of "CheBanca!", the bank's retail banking operations were expanded, creating a multichannel distribution model (internet, call center, branches) capable of ensuring significant collection flows. It has numerous investments and shareholders. Since January 2019, a Consultation Agreement has been in effect, bringing together about 20% of shareholders and not imposing any lock-up or voting restrictions on the contributed shares.
Today, it is present in international markets with offices in Milan, Paris, Madrid, Frankfurt, London, New York, and Luxembourg. The company is listed on the FTSE MIB index of the Milan Stock Exchange and is a component of the Standard Ethics Italian Banks Index.
