Born in Favara (AG) in 1935, Giuseppe Vita graduated with honors in medicine in Rome and specialized in radiology. In 1962-63 he worked at the Institute of Radiology of the University of Mainz. In 1964 he became responsible for research on contrast agents for the pharmaceutical group Schering (Berlin), of which he became CEO in 1989 and President in 2001. In Germany, he was also President of Hugo Boss and Deutz, as well as a board member of Continental. In Italy, he was President of Allianz, Deutsche Bank S.p.A., Banca Leonardo, as well as a board member of Barilla, Humanitas, Marzotto, Pirelli, and RCS. Since 2002, Giuseppe Vita has been the President of the Axel Springer publishing group (Berlin). From 2012 to 2018, he was the President of UniCredit.
