Giovanni Pirovano graduated cum laude in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan in 1973, obtained a Diploma in Marketing from IED in 1976, and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the SDA of Università Luigi Bocconi in Milan in 1979. He attended evening courses (1982 – 1983) at the Faculty of Economics of the Università Cattolica in Milan. In 1993, he completed the Master in Banking Management Program of the European Banking Federation – Brussels. After a work experience at Kaufof AG in Germany, he served as Export Manager of Officine Meccaniche Agrati S.p.A. from 1974 to 1977. In July 1976, he passed the admission competition as a permanent official at the European Commission in Brussels. From 1977 to 1989, he was an executive in the finance area of Banco Ambrosiano (later Nuovo Banco Ambrosiano and Banco Ambrosiano Veneto), General Director of Ambro Italia SIM, and a board member of Fiscambi Immobiliare. From 1989 to 1996, he held the position of Central Director Responsible for the Finance Area of Banca Popolare di Novara, and was a board member of Novara Vita and Sogepo SGR. In 1996, he joined the Mediolanum Group, initially serving as General Director of Banca Mediolanum (until 2011), and later as Vice President. In September 2021, he was appointed President of Banca Mediolanum.
Banca Mediolanum is a direct bank that offers banking, investment, insurance, and credit services with its legal headquarters in Basiglio, Milan 3. It was founded in 1995 by Ennio Doris, who was its president until September 21, 2021. Today it is led by Massimo Antonio Doris, Ennio's son.
