Andrea Orcel began his career in 1987 at Midland Montagu in Fixed Income. In 1988 he worked for Goldman Sachs and in 1990 he moved to The Boston Consulting Group. From 1992 to 2012 he worked at Merrill Lynch (which later became Bank of America), holding various senior positions. In 2012 he joined UBS as a Member of the Group Executive Committee and then as President of the Investment Bank; he later became CEO of UBS Limited and UBS AG at the London branch (2014); Board Advisor of UBS Americas Holding LLC and liaison for American regulatory authorities; Senior Officer Outside of Australia and liaison for Australian regulatory authorities (2016). Andrea Orcel has also been a Member of the Steering Committee of UBS Optimus Foundation, Senior Sponsor and Leader in promoting diversity and talent development in Investment Banking and in the UK. On April 15, 2021, he was appointed CEO of the UniCredit Group.
