Biography

Born in Chieti in 1952, son of a carabinieri marshal who moved to Canada after retirement. He graduated in Philosophy from the University of Toronto and later also obtained a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University with top marks. Sergio Marchionne began his professional journey in Canada. From 1983 to 1985, he worked for Deloitte Touche as a commercial lawyer and tax expert; subsequently, from 1985 to 1988, he served as group controller and then director of corporate development at Lawson Mardon Group in Toronto. In 2004, Sergio Marchionne was appointed CEO of the Fiat Group. In 2005, he took the lead of Fiat Auto personally. In September 2014, he replaced Luca di Montezemolo as chairman of Ferrari. He is passionate about classical music and cooking.
