Born in Genoa on February 17, 1957, Alessandro Profumo graduated with honors in Business Administration from Bocconi University. In 1977 he began working at Banco Lariano, where he stayed for ten years. In 1987 he joined McKinsey & Company and in 1989 he became, for Bain, Cuneo & Associati, responsible for relations with financial institutions. In 1991 Alessandro Profumo held the position of Central Director for RAS - Riunione Adriatica di Sicurtà. In 1994 he joined Credito Italiano (now UniCredit) as Co-Central Director. A year later he took on the role of General Manager and, in 1997, he was appointed CEO of the UniCredit Group, a position he held until 2010. From April 2012 to August 2015 he was President of Monte dei Paschi di Siena. In September 2015 he became a Director and President of Equita SIM, positions he held until May 2017. Alessandro Profumo was awarded the honor of Knight of the Order of Merit for Labor in 2004. He was CEO of Leonardo from May 16, 2017, to May 2023.
