Massimo Simonini, born in 1963, is a long-time manager specialized in the infrastructure and transportation sector. Graduated in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transport, from December 2018 to 2021 he was the CEO and General Manager of Anas. He joined the company in 1998 and has held various positions: from 2015 to 2018 he was the Head of “Bridges, Viaducts, and Tunnels,” becoming a key player in the new approach focused on scheduled maintenance of interventions and digital monitoring systems; from 2013 to 2015 he was in charge of the Extraordinary Maintenance program for Anas for the MIT and coordinated the Group of the Extraordinary Commissioner for the flood emergency works in Sardinia. Since July 2019, he has been the President of the World Road Association (PIARC) for Italy. A martial arts enthusiast, he was a competitive full contact champion.

Founded in 1946 under the name of "Azienda Nazionale Autonoma delle Strade" (A.N.A.S.), this acronym has become a proper name with the transformation first into a public economic entity (1996) and subsequently into a joint-stock company (2002).
