Biography

Born in Florence in 1944, graduated in Economics and Commerce from the University of Rome with 110/110 and honors. He began his career in 1964 at Generali, eventually becoming the General Director for Italy. In 2000, Fabio Cerchiai was president of INA and Assitalia and, from 2004 to 2009, president of Meliobanca. From 2002 to 2011, he was president of ANIA, the National Association of Insurance Companies. Additionally, he promoted the Direct Compensation Agreement to facilitate compensation for the injured party directly from their Insurance Company. He served as a councilor of CNEL, representing the business category in the insurance sector. He is the president of the Federation of Banks, Insurance, and Finance (FeBAF). Fabio Cerchiai is also engaged in cultural activities as president of FEST - Fenice Theatrical Services, which operates in services for the enhancement of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
