Biography

Born in Rocca di Papa (RM) in 1960. Tiziano Onesti is a Full Professor of Business Economics at the University of Roma TRE and a lecturer in Business Valuation at LUISS "Guido Carli" in Rome. He has been or is President or a member of the Board of Directors and the Board of Statutory Auditors of listed and unlisted companies operating in the sectors of industry, services, and finance. A Chartered Accountant and Legal Auditor, Tiziano Onesti is an economic-business advisor in the field of financial statements and company valuation. He provides consulting services in the area of corporate reorganizations and governance structures for public and private legal entities. He follows organizations operating in the third sector and is engaged, at multiple levels, in socio-cultural initiatives. He is a Patron Member of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome. From 2015 to 2020, he was President of Trenitalia.

Trenitalia is a company 100% owned by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and is the main Italian company for the management of passenger rail transport. Founded as Italiana Trasporti Ferroviari S.p.A., it became Trenitalia in May 2000. In 2021, it was put in charge of the "Passenger Division" of the FS Group.

The company, like the other operating companies of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane holding, can be classified as a public law entity.

Trenitalia manages more than 15,000 km of railway network and its workforce consists of over 80,000 employees.
