Born in Modica (RG) in 1967, Orazio Iacono graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Catania and obtained a Master in Business Administration from M.I.P. – School of Management Politecnico di Milano. He began his working experience at the Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) Group in 1993, taking on positions of increasing responsibility within the Italian Railway Network Company until becoming, in 2012, Commercial Director and Network Operations. From 2014 to 2017, he worked at Trenitalia as the Director of the Regional Passenger Division, before taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Trenitalia, a position he held until 2020. In 2021, he was Senior Advisor at Oaktree Capital Management/PwC Italy and subsequently Chief Operating Officer of Sustainable Infrastructures at Saipem from January until May 2022, when he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Hera Group. Married, he is the father of two children.
