Born in Rho (MI) in 1963. After graduating in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, he began his managerial career in 1989, taking over the family business, active in the construction sector. In 1998, he became Vice President of AEM, an energy company of the Municipality of Milan now known as A2A. In 2003, he was appointed General Director of Rai, and between 2005 and 2014, Flavio Cattaneo served as CEO of Terna. Between December 2014 and March 2016, he was also an independent director of Generali Assicurazioni. Already a director of Telecom Italia since April 2014, Flavio Cattaneo became CEO with executive powers on March 30, 2016. From October 2017 to December 2018, he was CEO of Italo - NTV. In May 2023, he was appointed CEO of Enel. Flavio Cattaneo has received several awards: in 2010, he received the Lombard Elite award for improving the country's competitiveness, and two years later, Staffetta Quotidiana and Fondazione Energia awarded him the "Man of the Year" award. In 2011, he was honored with the title of Knight of Labor.
