Biography

Gianfranco Battisti, graduated in both Political Science and International Economics and Management, is the President of GO.WE, which manages the Golf and Wellness Center in Fiuggi, as well as Renova Red S.p.A., specialized in large infrastructure works. From July 31, 2018, to June 2021, he served as CEO and General Manager of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, as well as President of the FS Italiane Foundation since July 2019. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Assonime and the General Council of Assolombarda. Among the positions held during his career are that of Member of the Management Committee of the CER "Community of European Railways and Infrastructure Managers", Member of the European Management Committee of the UIC "International Union of Railways", Member of the General Council and later Member of the Internal Board of Confindustria Nazionale, and, since July 2020, Member of the Internal Board. On the occasion of Italy's presidency of the G20, he was also called to be part of the Advisory Board of the B20. Since September 2020, he has also been Vice President of Unindustria Lazio. Previously CEO of Sistemi Urbani, from 2009 to 2017 he was the Director of the National and International Passenger Division and High Speed of Trenitalia. In 1998, he joined the Ferrovie dello Stato Group as Marketing and Yield Management Manager for the Night Product, later taking on greater responsibilities including that of Marketing/Commercial Director. From 2009 to 2011, he was a Board Member of the Artesia Company for the Italy-France rail connections. He was the Reference for the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group for both EXPO 2015 and the Jubilee 2016. From 1988 to 1997, he worked in the Fiat Auto Group. From 2016 to 2019, Gianfranco Battisti was the National President of Federturismo, the Federation of Confindustria. He was President of the Transport Section of Unindustria Lazio from 2011 to 2017. In 2010, he received the honor of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. In September 2020, he received honorary citizenship from the Municipality of Frosinone. In 2019, he won the Excellent award for enhancing the Italy brand and in the same year was also named "European Ambassador for Diversity" by the European Commission for Transport. In May 2021, he was appointed as “European Ambassador for Climate”. Also active in academia, he has brought his managerial experience to universities such as Bocconi University in Milan, Luiss in Rome, La Sapienza in Rome: he is currently a member of the Strategic Address Council of the European University of Rome.

Always committed to the Third Sector, Gianfranco Battisti is Vice President of the National Non-Profit Association Incontradonna for breast cancer prevention and works on the Board of Directors of the Non-Profit Association Aspro for support to cancer patients at San Camillo-Forlanini in Rome.
