Biography

Remo Ruffini, born in Como in 1961, is the President and CEO of Moncler. His professional training begins in his father's company, Gianfranco Ruffini Ltd, active both in Italy and the United States. Returning to Italy in 1984, he founded New England, specializing in men's shirts, which he soon diversified with a complete line of sportswear and a women's collection. In 2003, Remo Ruffini acquired Moncler, the historic Franco-Italian brand specialized in the production of down jackets, for which he launched an international relaunch project that led, after just a decade, in 2013, to the brand's listing on the Milan Stock Exchange. Ruffini's insight focuses on the idea of the 'global down jacket', versatile and perfect for all occasions. A revolutionary approach that has determined Moncler's international success.

Brand

Moncler is an Italian luxury company of French origins specialized in clothing and accessories. Moncler designs, produces, and distributes luxury outerwear and sportswear collections appreciated for style, quality, and craftsmanship. Its most famous products, such as the down jacket, have become symbols of trend, Italian identity, and lifestyle around the world.

The company was founded in 1952 in the French municipality of Monestier-de-Clermont, a ski resort near Grenoble, by René Ramillon, a French mountain equipment craftsman, and André Vincent.

At the beginning of its history, the company produced padded sleeping bags. The first Moncler down jackets were produced in 1954 for the company's workers who wore them over their work suits in the small mountain factory. Under the guidance of mountaineer Lionel Terray, the company then developed the first specialized line for high-altitude mountaineering. In the following decades, the product established itself in the market.
