Biography

Agostino Scornajenchi, born in Rome in 1972, has been CEO of Snam since May 2025. He graduated in Economics from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome and has also been President of ANDAF (National Association of Administrative and Financial Directors) since 2021.

With thirty years of experience in the energy infrastructure sector, Agostino Scornajenchi has held roles of increasing responsibility at large Italian and international corporations: CFO of Aceaelectrabel, Head of Management Control of the Generation Division of the Enel Group, Head of Strategic Planning & Control at Poste Italiane from 2015 to 2017, and CFO of Engie Energy Southern Europe until 2015. From 2017 to 2023, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Terna, and then, from October 2023 until his appointment at Snam, he was CEO and General Manager of CDP Venture Capital Sgr.

Snam S.p.A. (acronym for Società NAzionale Metanodotti, that is National Methane Pipeline Company) is an energy infrastructure company headquartered in San Donato Milanese (MI) active in the transportation, storage, and regasification of methane.

It was established on October 30, 1941, under the name "National Methane Pipeline Company". In 2009, Snam Rete Gas acquired 100% of Italgas S.p.A. from ENI (which later opted for a partial spin-off) and of Stoccaggi Gas Italia S.p.A.

Snam operates in Italy and through subsidiaries in Albania, Austria, France, Greece, and the United Kingdom. It is among the shareholders of TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) and ADNOC Gas Pipelines, a company that holds the management rights of 38 gas pipelines in the United Arab Emirates.

The company is listed on the FTSE MIB index of the Milan Stock Exchange.
