Massimiliano Silvestri was born in 1977 in Bari, where he graduated in Economics and Business. He joined the Lidl Group in 2002 and, after a stint at the German parent company, began his career at Lidl Italy in 2003, where he served as Managing Director of Sales until early 2017, when he was appointed to lead Lidl Portugal. From March 2019 to November 2025, Massimiliano Silvestri was Chairman of Lidl Italy.
Lidl is a German discount supermarket chain, part of the Schwarz Group. As of 2024, it had over 12,000 stores worldwide.
