Domenico Brisigotti began his career in the purchasing department at Prenatal before moving to Coop Italia in 1989. There, he joined the product division as a sector manager—a role he held until 2000, when he was appointed Area Director.

In 2015, he took charge of the Non-Food division and spearheaded the establishment of Coop Italia Food, serving as its CEO. He stepped down from both roles in 2018 to become Food Commercial Director, overseeing national and international negotiations with branded goods manufacturers, as well as the management of private-label products and ultra-fresh goods.

In 2023, he was appointed General Manager of the Consortium. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Coopernic, the European cooperative alliance. In June 2026, he was appointed Chairman of CPR System and, in the same month, assumed the role of Chairman of Coop Italia.

Brand

Coop Italia is a system of Italian cooperatives founded in Rome in 1967. It includes a network of convenience stores, supermarkets, and hypermarkets.

The brand is attributed to the consumer cooperatives associated with Coop Italia, which is itself a member of the National League of Cooperatives and Mutuals.

The system does not cover the entire national territory; its points of sale are mainly spread in Central and Northern Italy, particularly in Tuscany and Emilia Romagna.

The main purpose of consumer cooperatives is to protect purchasing power and oversee food safety. To this end, they purchase quality goods to sell them at advantageous prices to consumers. Among the main objectives of Coop is also the promotion of organic foods.

Despite the similarity in name and logo, it has no corporate relationship with Coop Switzerland, Norway, and the Netherlands.
