Brand

The Unione Calcio Sampdoria, better known as Sampdoria, is an Italian football club based in the city of Genoa. It plays in Serie B, the second division of the Italian championship. Tenth among the clubs with the best sports tradition in Italy, it is part of the European Club Association.

It was founded on August 12, 1946, from the merger of Sampierdarenese (which started as a multi-sport club in 1891, and as a football section in 1899) and Andrea Doria (which began as a multi-sport club in 1895, and as a football section in 1900).

Throughout its history, Sampdoria has played 66 Serie A championships and 11 Serie B championships, winning one scudetto, 4 Coppa Italia titles, and one Italian Supercup. At the international level, it boasts the victory of a Cup Winners' Cup (in 1989-1990), in addition to having reached the finals of the then European Cup (in 1991-1992), the Cup Winners' Cup (in 1988-1989), and the UEFA Supercup (in 1990).

As of December 18, 2022, the joint-stock company Unione Calcio Sampdoria was under the direction and coordination of Sport Spettacolo Holding srl (which held a stake of 99.96% of the total shares), which was in turn controlled by Holding Max srl (whose shareholders included Massimo Ferrero, some family members, and, to a lesser extent, a trust); the remaining 0.04% of Sampdoria's shares was divided among about fifty individuals of various origins, many of whom were linked to the time of Paolo Mantovani's management.
