Born in Figline Valdarno (FI) and raised in London, Marinella Soldi graduated in Economics from the London School of Economics and obtained a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD.
She began her career at McKinsey & Company as a Business Analyst and Associate between London and Milan. Between 1995 and 2000, she worked at MTV Networks Europe, serving as General Manager of MTV Italy from 1996 to 1997 and Senior VP of Strategic Development from 1998 to 2000. For nine years, she also worked as a leadership coach in the technology and media sectors, founding her own company. From 2009 to 2018, she was CEO of Discovery Networks for Southern Europe, and from 2017, she held the position of Chief Content and Strategy Officer for Discovery International. In 2016, she won the Marisa Bellisario Award. Since 2019, for a three-year term, she has been the non-executive Chairman of the Vodafone Italy Foundation.
In July 2021, Marinella Soldi was appointed President of Rai, after receiving the favorable opinion of the Supervisory Commission, a role she will hold until July 2024. Since January 2022, she has been a member of the General Council of Confindustria Radio Televisioni. She currently also serves as a Board Member at Ariston Thermo Holding, Nexi S.p.A., and from September 2023, the BBC.
