Brand

Adnkronos is an Italian news agency founded in Rome in 1963 from the merger of the two agencies Kronos and AdN.

In 1970, Adnkronos was acquired by the pharmaceutical industrialist Fulvio Bracco, who appointed Giuseppe Marra as sole administrator. In 1978, Marra took over the agency through Piemme Editoriale Finanziaria. Over the years, the agency has distinguished itself with some important scoops (it was the first agency in the world to spread images of the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II in 1981, the first Italian to report the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and the first to report the death of judge Giovanni Falcone in 1992).

Since 1990, Adnkronos S.p.A. has been controlled by Piemme Editoriale, which owns 98% of the capital (since 1999 Giuseppe Marra Communications S.a.p.a.).
