Federico Protto has experience in prominent positions in major Italian and international telecommunications companies.
A native of Milan, born in 1967, he graduated in Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano and obtained a Master's in ICT from Cefriel. He later earned an MBA from Bocconi University in Milan.
After a brief stint as a researcher at the Politecnico di Milano, he held various roles at Telecom Italia. He then began his international career in 1999 at the current Verizon. In 2002, he joined the Deutsche Telekom group. From 2015 to 2023, he served as CEO of the Retelit Group. At the same time, he held other important positions as Chairman, Board Member, and in Executive Committees.
After a brief period at the helm of Intred, in March 2024, he accepted the proposal from Global CEO Marco Patuano and took on the role of Chairman and CEO of Cellnex Italia, the leading Italian company in the Telecommunications Towers sector.
Cellnex Telecom S.A. is a Spanish company operating in the business of towers and infrastructure for electronic telecommunications. The main shareholder of the group is Edizione S.p.A., the holding company of the Benetton family.
