Top Manager Reputation: Energy takes center stage as Descalzi claims the top spot

05 October 2026

Energy takes center stage again in September. Claudio Descalzi (90.96) claims the top spot in the Top Manager Reputation ranking, climbing three positions thanks to his leading role in the fuel price containment initiative, which placed him at the forefront of the public debate on the role of major energy companies and triggered a domino effect across the sector, as well as to Eni’s international commitments. Rising one position to second place is Pier Silvio Berlusconi (90.40), supported by MFE’s half-year profits. In third place is Andrea Orcel (90.29), buoyed by the Danish compromise and negotiations with the German government regarding Commerzbank.

Fourth is Carlo Messina (88.62), at the center of Intesa Sanpaolo’s takeover bid for MPS. Renato Mazzoncini (83.85) moves up one spot to fifth, driven by A2A’s investments and the Teti project in Valtellina. He is followed by Flavio Cattaneo (83.67), backed by Enel’s international projects; Matteo Del Fante (82.95), who has led Poste to an 85% stake in TIM; and Urbano Cairo (79.96). Pietro Labriola (76.23) advances to ninth place. Rounding out the Top 10 is Alessandro Benetton (76.22), supported by the launch of 21 Next and the new governance structure at Edizione.

The ranking continues with Luca de Meo (74.78); Claudio Andrea Gemme (73.13), up one position after Anas received UNESCO recognition in Paris for its road safety campaign; Cristina Scocchia (71.37), up two places thanks to illycaffè’s expansion in the United States; Gian Maria Mossa (71.07); Pierroberto Folgiero (70.62); Luca Dal Fabbro (70.02); Luigi Lovaglio (68.82); Giuseppe Castagna (67.58), up one position; Fabrizio Palermo (67.47); and Marina Berlusconi (67.13).

Just outside the Top 20, Renzo Rosso (66.74) climbs three places thanks to the documentary about his life presented at the Venice Film Festival.

Within the Top 200, notable gains include: Miuccia Prada (24th, +5), driven by the new collection; Antonio Filosa (28th, +8), supported by Stellantis investments; Carlo Cimbri (34th, +6), amid the ongoing banking consolidation race; Gian Maria Gros-Pietro (36th, +10), benefiting from developments in artificial intelligence and acquisitions; Andrea Duilio (65th, +24), boosted by Sky Mobile; Yuri Santagostino (74th, +7); and Giorgio Busnelli (76th, +7).

Also recording significant growth are Guido Barilla (99th, +39), following the U.S. acquisition of Goodles; Sandro Pappalardo (113th, +15), driven by ITA Airways’ new routes; Giuseppe Marsocci (128th, +17), after his creative appointment at Emporio Armani; Domenico Brisigotti (131st, +25), supported by the publication of the Coop 2026 Report; and Elisabetta Franchi (142nd, +22), thanks to a new advertising campaign and the opening of a boutique in Erbil.
