Valentino Confalone holds a degree in Economics from the Federico II University of Naples, has obtained a Master's in International Relations and an MBA from the IESE Business School in Barcelona. Since June 2022, Confalone has been serving as the Country President of Novartis Italy. Previously, he was the General Manager of Gilead Sciences Italy and held international positions in various pharmaceutical companies, starting from Schering Plough Spain, continuing with Bristol-Myers Squibb in France, Portugal, and at the European level, up to the responsibility of Head of Europe at Dompé Biotech.
Novartis is among the world leaders in the pharmaceutical sector and has a significant presence in Italy. The headquarters is located in Milan, the beating heart of the Innovative Medicines and Sandoz divisions.
Among the production sites, the one in Torre Annunziata (NA) stands out, a globally important hub for the Group and one of the main ones in Southern Italy. The high technology Novartis has also chosen Piedmont, where Advanced Accelerator Applications is based in the technological park of Ivrea and other research centers, as well as Molise and Emilia-Romagna.
