Biography

Edoardo Valente, born in Naples in 1959, has been the President of Anas since December 23, 2021. He holds degrees in Law, Political Science, and Economic and Financial Security Sciences. Additionally, he obtained a Master's degree in "Corporate Tax Law." He began his career in the Guardia di Finanza, entering the Academy in 1978. Over the years, he has held prominent positions in all sectors that characterize its activities, as a Senior Officer and later as a General Officer. Between 1997 and 2005, he served as Head of the Legislation Office of the General Command. From September 2005 to July 2008, he was the Provincial Commander of Florence. After returning to the General Command, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the General Command until September 2011 and then as Chief of Staff of the General Command until September 2012. He later held the position of Deputy Chief of Cabinet of the Minister of Economy and Finance until July 2015, and that of Expert to the Minister of Economy and Finance until March 2021. Between 2015 and 2018, he was the Interregional Commander (Central-Northern Italy and then also Central Italy) and from November 2018 to November 15, 2020, he was the Deputy Commander of the Guardia di Finanza. Gen. Valente is the author of numerous articles in the field of taxation and on economic treatment and legislation of personnel. He has been a lecturer in tax law and accounting subjects at the Corps Departments and is a lecturer in economic and financial subjects at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo. He has been awarded numerous honors, including those of Grand Officer of the Order of "Merit of the Italian Republic," Mauriziana Medal (for ten years of military service), Gold Military Medal for long command merit, and Gold Cross for length of service.

Brand

Anas is an Italian joint-stock company that deals with road infrastructure and manages the network of state roads and national interest highways.

Founded in 1946 under the name of "Azienda Nazionale Autonoma delle Strade" (A.N.A.S.), this acronym has become a proper name with the transformation first into a public economic entity (1996) and subsequently into a joint-stock company (2002). Since January 2018, it has been part of the corporate group of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.

Legally, the company is classified as a public law entity; within the framework of the European system of national and regional accounts, it is among the consolidated economic account companies of the Italian State.

Its responsibilities include the management of state-owned roads and highways, their ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, and the implementation of laws and regulations for the protection of road and highway assets.
