The Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio, more commonly known as Atalanta, is an Italian football club founded in 1907 in Bergamo. It is nicknamed "queen of the provincials" because, despite not being a team from a big city, it has participated in 63 editions of Serie A, more than any other team that is not a regional capital or has never won the scudetto.
