The Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio, more commonly known as Atalanta, is an Italian football club founded in 1907 in Bergamo. It is nicknamed "queen of the provincials" because, despite not being a team from a big city, it has participated in 63 editions of Serie A, more than any other team that is not a regional capital or has never won the scudetto.

The club holds the absolute record for promotions to Serie A, 14, and is, along with Genoa, the team that has won the Serie B championship the most times, 7.

At the national level, Atalanta won an Italian Cup in 1963 and reached the final four more times. In Serie A, the best result was third place, achieved for three consecutive seasons from 2018 to 2021.

At the international level, Atalanta has participated in three editions of the UEFA Champions League, two of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, and six of the UEFA Cup/Europa League. The best result was the semifinals of the Cup Winners' Cup in 1988, achieved while the team was playing in Serie B.
