ABB (acronym for Asea Brown Boveri) is a Swiss-Swedish multinational electrical engineering company based in Zurich, operating in robotics, energy, and automation in over 100 countries. It was formed in 1988 from the merger of ASEA and BBC (Brown, Boveri & Cie) and ranked 341st on the Fortune Global 500 list in 2018.
The Group's solutions combine engineering know-how and software to optimize the ways goods are produced, moved, powered, and used. Approximately 105,000 people work there. Until the sale of the Power Grids division in 2020, ABB was the largest industrial employer in Switzerland.
