He has been at the helm of Municipia S.p.A. since 2017: in the role of President, Stefano De Capitani has coordinated its growth, leading it to a leadership position in the field of service design for smart cities. An expert in digital transformation and innovation of technologies and processes, he has acquired significant skills in the digitalization of Public Administration, smart cities, public-private partnerships, and project financing over more than 30 years of career, also distinguishing himself for his commitment to promoting environmental and social sustainability initiatives.
Stefano De Capitani was born in Monza in 1967. After graduating in accounting from the Collegio Villoresi San Giuseppe, he subsequently obtained a degree in Business Administration from the Carlo Cattaneo LIUC University.
His first significant professional experience is at Delisa S.p.A.: he worked for the company from 1991 to 2001 and then moved to Opera S.p.A., called to hold the position of Chief Executive Officer (2002-2005). Already at the helm of two of the largest companies specialized in innovation and digital transformation of Public Administration (Insiel, where he was Chief Executive Officer and General Director from 2005 to 2008, and CSI Piemonte, General Director from 2011 to 2013), he was also Vice President of IBM Italy in the years 2008-2009.
Appointed in 2014 as President of Amag S.p.A., Stefano De Capitani led its transformation into a multi-utility by implementing a strategy of diversification of activities in local public services (gas and energy distribution, water management, transport, urban hygiene, district heating). After completing his term in 2017, he arrived at Municipia S.p.A.: in these years, thanks to the effectiveness of the growth strategies outlined as President and a functional diversification of activities, the company of the Engineering Group has recorded growth in both production and commercial activities in the various locations across the national territory where over 700 professionals operate: revenues and the number of clients have also increased. Municipia S.p.A. has also achieved further expansion of industrial partnerships and the successful implementation of a series of significant acquisition and internationalization operations.
Throughout his over thirty-year career, Stefano De Capitani has also held various positions as an administrator, advisor, or consultant within companies, associations, investment funds, and foundations. In his free time, he dedicates himself to his wife and three children, cultivating various interests including cinema, theater, reading, and travel.
