Nicola Volpi has over 30 years of experience in the Private Equity sector with operations carried out both in Italy and Europe. He graduated in Business Administration from Luigi Bocconi University in Milan and completed his education with a specialization in Finance at SDA Bocconi. His career began at Sefimeta S.p.A. (Montedison Group) as a financial analyst. From 1987 to 1995, he was Head of the Leverage Finance division at Sanpaolo Finance, the investment bank of the San Paolo group (now Intesa Sanpaolo). In this role, he organized the financing of the first Buy Outs carried out in Italy. He then joined Schroder Ventures, where he became a partner in 1997. In 1999, Nicola Volpi was among the founding partners of Permira, which quickly established itself as one of the leading Private Equity firms globally, managing funds of over 40 billion euros. In 2005, Nicola Volpi became Chief Executive Officer of Permira Associati S.p.A. and was later appointed a member of the Executive Committee that leads Permira worldwide. Under his leadership, the Private Equity fund in Italy has successfully completed numerous acquisitions and divestitures in leading companies in their markets, such as Ferretti Yachts, Marazzi, Valentino, Sisal, and Veneta Cucine. From 2014 to 2018, he was a member of the board of FC Internazionale S.p.A. Nicola Volpi is currently a partner and a member of the Board of Directors of Pagani Automobili S.p.A., of which he became a shareholder in 2013. He is the CEO and co-founder of Movidea, an investment company active in the luxury goods and services sector both in Italy and internationally. In his free time, he enjoys various sports, including cycling, skiing, and heliskiing, and he is passionate about travel, music, and modern art.
