Biography

Manolo Cipolla is the President of Cotral S.p.A., the main regional company for extra-urban public transport in Lazio. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of RFI - Italian Railway Network: here he contributes to defining strategies for the development and innovation of the national railway network.
Manolo Cipolla's career began in 2002 at Cotral S.p.A., where he acquired key skills in business management. In 2007, he moved to Cotral Patrimonio S.p.A., taking on responsibilities related to passive invoicing and document management for the purchase of goods and services. This period represents a solid foundation for his professional evolution.
Since 2009, he has embarked on a growth path that has led him to hold roles of increasing responsibility in prominent companies such as Trambus S.p.A., Met.Ro S.p.A., and ATAC S.p.A. During these years, he has distinguished himself for his ability to optimize operational processes, manage technical-industrial procurements, and improve the overall efficiency of organizations.
In 2014, he founded Romana Parts S.r.l., a company specialized in the supply of spare parts for the transport sector, which he successfully led for a decade, demonstrating entrepreneurial skills and strategic vision. It is in 2023 that he joins the Board of Directors of RFI, further strengthening his contribution to the improvement of transport infrastructure in Italy. In 2024, he is appointed President of Cotral S.p.A.

Cotral S.p.A. is the main extra-urban public transport company in the Lazio Region, playing a central role in daily mobility that connects the 376 municipalities of the region to the city of Rome. As the concessionaire of the local road public transport service, it ensures connections between various municipalities and the main metropolitan areas. In July 2022, the company also acquired the railway branch of the Rome-Ostia and Rome-Civita Castellana-Viterbo lines, thus expanding its capacity to offer integrated mobility solutions.

With a fleet of vehicles in continuous renewal, Cotral ensures the mobility of thousands of citizens every day, facilitating travel for work, study, health, and leisure. The company stands out for its commitment to environmental sustainability and technological innovation. Most operational sites are equipped with photovoltaic systems, and the new buses, belonging to less polluting categories, help reduce environmental impact. In addition, it integrates “green” requirements into tender notices to ensure that suppliers share its ecological strategies.

In the context of the 2023-2027 Industrial Plan, Cotral is investing in the redevelopment and construction of efficient, sustainable, and autonomous facilities through the use of smart technologies and solar systems to reduce its environmental impact.
