Luciano Carta, born in Carbonia (CI) on January 31, 1957, is a General of the Guardia di Finanza and has held the position of Deputy Director of the External Information and Security Agency (AISE) since January 12, 2017. On November 21, 2018, the President of the Council of Ministers appointed him Director of the same Agency. In 1983, he graduated in Law from the University of Cagliari. He then attended the 20th Advanced Course at the Guardia di Finanza's School of Tax Police (1991-1992). He later obtained a bachelor's degree in Economic Financial Security Sciences from the University of Tor Vergata (2003); a master's degree in Economic Financial Security Sciences (University of Tor Vergata, 2004); and in Political Sciences from the University of Trieste. Luciano Carta is the author of several publications on tax matters and has held teaching positions at the University of L'Aquila, the Luiss management school, the School of Tax Police, and the Academy of the Corps. He has been a consultant for the Anti-Mafia Parliamentary Commission in the XIV Legislature.
