Biography

Diego Biasi started his career in London in 1997, specializing in the Investment Banking sector and the financial industry: he initially worked for Caboto Securities, the English investment bank of the Intesa Group. Subsequently, in 1999, he became Managing Director at Banca IMI, before moving to Commerzbank in 2001, where he oversaw numerous corporate finance transitions, mergers, and acquisitions. In 2009, Diego Biasi began to focus on the renewable energy market: together with Simone Borla, he founded Quercus, a fund specialized in large-scale infrastructure investments. Thanks to the success of the launch of the first two funds, Quercus found itself able to build a portfolio of about 22 plants with over 300 million euros in financing in the first 4 years. In 2011, Diego Biasi maintained a leadership role in the Quercus joint venture with CDC, Foresight, Adenium Capital, and VEI Capital. The following year, he led Quercus in the joint venture with UKGIB (UK Green Investment Bank), a company owned by the British government, with the aim of building the TEG Biogas plant based in London. In 2017, he signed an unprecedented contract with the Iranian government for the construction, development, and operation of one of the largest Solar PV plants in the world, totaling 600MW.
