From 1983 to 1985, he worked for Deloitte Touche as a commercial lawyer and tax expert; subsequently, from 1985 to 1988, he served as group controller and then director of corporate development at the Lawson Mardon Group in Toronto. In 2004, Sergio Marchionne was appointed CEO of the Fiat Group. In 2005, he took the helm of Fiat Auto personally. In September 2014, he replaced Luca di Montezemolo as chairman of Ferrari.
