Enzo Ferrari, entrepreneur, sports executive, and racing driver, founder of the eponymous car manufacturer famous worldwide, was born in Modena in February 1898. Enzo Ferrari began his career in a workshop in Modena and then moved to Turin where, after a rejection from Fiat, he found work in several coachbuilders. In 1919 he took part in his first car race, in 1924 he participated in the founding of Corriere dello Sport, and in 1938 he created Auto Avio Costruzioni based in Modena. After the war, he moved the headquarters to Maranello and founded Scuderia Ferrari, giving rise to a long history of successes in sports and beyond.
You cannot describe passion, you can only live it
There is uncertainty about his birth date: Enzo Ferrari claimed to have been born in Modena on February 18, 1898, but his father reported his birth to the registry office only two days later due to a heavy snowfall. Ferrari wrote with a purple ink fountain pen in memory of his father's document copies. Throughout his life, the founder of Ferrari was proposed several times for the role of life senator. The symbol that still characterizes Scuderia Ferrari today comes from that used by Francesco Baracca, the main Italian aviator during World War I: a prancing horse.
