Prysmian

Prysmian Group is an Italian company based in Milan.

Founded in 1879 as Pirelli Cables and Systems, the company is a world leader in the cable systems sector. Specifically, Prysmian is involved in the production and installation of underground and submarine cables for the transmission and distribution of electricity, as well as special cables intended for use in various industrial sectors and medium and low voltage cables for construction and infrastructure. For telecommunications, the Group produces copper cables, optical cables, and fiber optic cables for the transmission of data, video, and voice.

Prysmian also handles the design and implementation of turnkey systems at the customer's request, as well as post-installation maintenance.

Every year, the company invests over 100 million euros in research and development. On December 4, 2017, it acquired 100% of the US rival General Cable, and then completed the merger by incorporation the following year, after receiving antitrust approval from the respective countries. With the acquisition, a group with over 10 billion euros in revenue and 30,000 employees was formed.

The company is listed on the FTSE MIB index of the Milan Stock Exchange.
