Nestlé

Nestlé S.A. or Société des Produits Nestlé S.A. is a multinational company active in the food sector, headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland, founded in 1866 by pharmacist and entrepreneur Henri Nestlé. It produces and distributes a wide variety of products, from mineral water to baby food, from frozen foods to dairy products.

After its creation, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Nestlé grew rapidly, eventually owning factories in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain. After the end of World War I, it expanded into the chocolate sector, which remains the company's second most important activity to this day. After a brief downturn, the company rebounded thanks to the invention of Nescafé after World War II. The company's growth was thus accelerated, and numerous acquisitions were completed over the years (including Findus, Libby's, and Stouffer's). In March 1988, Nestlé acquired the Italian food company Buitoni along with its brands Buitoni and Perugina. In the 1990s, Nestlé continued its expansion by acquiring brands including Italgel from SME and Sanpellegrino, up to the food division of the multinational Pfizer in 2012.

In 2018, the company divested its confectionery activities in the U.S. market, selling over 20 brands to Ferrero.

Nestlé is the largest multinational in the world active in the food sector. Its revenue for 2022 was nearly 98 billion euros.
