Iliad Italy is an Italian telecommunications operator, founded in 2016 as a foreign subsidiary of the French group Iliad.
At its foundation, the French holding invested over one billion euros for the development of the new Italian mobile operator and in 2017, in anticipation of the launch and in compliance with the provisions of the European Commission, began acquiring the frequencies relinquished by Wind Tre following the merger of Wind and 3 Italy.
The official launch of Iliad Italy took place in May 2018, coinciding with the presentation of the commercial offer. The operator reached its first million customers in less than two months; just five years later, in 2023, the group has over 10 million registered users.
The operator is known for its advantageous economical offers, which have helped to revolutionize the telecommunications market in Italy. It has had a significant impact on the market by contributing to reducing prices and improving the quality of services offered. Iliad has also helped to stimulate competition, benefiting consumers.
