Fininvest

Investment Finance - Fininvest S.p.A. is the company that holds the equity division of the Berlusconi family, founded by Silvio Berlusconi in 1975. It is considered one of the most powerful Italian and European holdings. Since 2005, after the death of Aldo Bonomo, it has been chaired by Marina Berlusconi and the CEO is Danilo Pellegrino. The group has more than 15,000 employees.

In 1988, Fininvest was the third largest Italian group, after FIAT and Montedison. In the 1990s, it underwent a major restructuring when Franco Tatò became CEO and a restructuring plan was initiated that also led to the listing of the controlled companies on the stock exchange.

The television sector was subsequently reorganized in 1994 as Mediaset S.p.A. (now MFE – MediaForEurope), opened to external partners (Al Waleed, Leo Kirch, Johann Rupert), and was also listed on the stock exchange in April 1996.

In 2023, the dividend of Fininvest was 100 million euros. The company is not listed on the stock exchange in the traditional sense. The Dutch company MFE is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange and its controlling shareholder is Fininvest itself.
